Reference-stable mode comparison with a nonvacuum background

The background contribution in (eq:modeerror) is computed from $n(\omega )$ and the actual orthogonal mode $g_L$. It includes its possible correlation $m$ with $h$, through a uniform Wick bound. There is no separate “background vacuum” assumption or overlapping additive background-error label.
