Definition: Operational influence

For a fixed complete network and terminal output $Y$, an external input port is influential if two trace-preserving local interventions there, for some admitted initial state, produce different unconditioned output laws on $Y$. Denote the set of such ports by ${\mathsf{Inf}}^{-}(Y)$.
