A thermodynamic cost claim must specify at least:

  1. the physical memory and its initial state or input ensemble;

  2. all relevant Hamiltonians and interaction/switching conventions;

  3. reservoirs, their initial states and temperatures;

  4. work storage, controllers, and usable side information;

  5. the complete dynamics and final correlations;

  6. definitions of heat and work, and conditions for returning reusable resources.
