The symmetric-cone representation theorem
Signature and Lorentz-cone selection › The symmetric-cone representation theorem · lines 1311–1320
To verify the equivalence, if a sum in (eq:strict) lies on the boundary, a supporting functional gives a proper exposed face containing both summands. Conversely, two nonproportional elements of a proper face violate (eq:strict). The word “proper” is essential: itself is a face. A condition about all linear subspaces meeting the boundary would not be an equivalent definition.
