The form obtained here satisfies the hypotheses of Theorem thm:signature: its future component has closure $K$ and its exterior is nonempty. The signature theorem and the symmetric-cone theorem therefore agree, but only the latter selects quadraticity from the nonquadratic assumptions in $\mathsf{S}$.
