The two papers concern the same noisy Boolean-summary problem, but their displayed general assertions are different. The soft-information theorem includes randomized summaries at fixed initial information. The Hellinger theorem controls a different functional and implies the ordinary Boolean information bound. We do not assert that the two displayed theorems are equivalent, nor that either general proof is a premise of the other.

The implication from Hellinger to Courtade–Kumar predates these manuscripts ABCJN. Its elementary proof is included in Section sec:implication.
