conditioning on success yields identity, but the deterministic channel is

Its error is positive for $p < 1$ .

With input-dependent success probability, normalization of a success branch need not even define a linear channel on all inputs. Failure branches remain in deterministic certification, as in the flagged interface of Em05-B CheungEm05B.
