A finite-index inclusion can have canonical conditional expectations, which are completely positive maps. Their existence should not be erased by the phrase “an extension is not a channel”. An expectation restores observables of its specified subalgebra. It does not automatically recover an arbitrary separately declared quantum code. Recovery still requires its actual interface and the condition in Theorem thm:exact.
