Let $N = Tr_{S}$ on $C_{L} \otimes S$ . The identity decoder on $C_{L}$ recovers the subsystem exactly. A complementary channel returns $Tr_{C_{L}} ρ$ , which is not constant when $dim S > 1$ . Thus subsystem recovery does not require a left inverse on the whole bulk.
