The same evaluation seeds couple the raw Gaussian draws only when architecture, batching, and draw order agree. The code preserves those controls. No favorable variance reduction is assumed merely from pairing.

For modulation removal, clone the acute checkpoint, set a=1.0 and activation="relu", and evaluate the clone. Record this as modulation removal, retaining its learned parameters.
