The final test does not remove the assigned gain, activation, or inhibition. It is neither an untriggered test nor a transient-control-reset test.

Moreover, simulate_kindling reconstructs a fresh model whose protection defaults to zero. It restores masks and scar masks and then assigns treatment modulation, but it does not activate the protection mechanism. Thus $p=0$ throughout its default cycles.
