Remark: One metric field

XII-A's carrier has one metric field $\gamma$. XI-E's split $H=h+\gamma$ was bookkeeping for a held-fixed test, with $h$ a background shifted by $K\xi$ and $\gamma$ a part whose co-transformation was restored by hand. Here $\gamma$ denotes the whole first-order metric. No background $h$ is introduced, varied, or quantized. The brief's “$h+\gamma$” is read as $\gamma$.
