The defect is the full $s_{\xi }$, including the quadratic flow term $\frac{1}{2}{\mathcal{L}}_{\xi }K\xi$; XI-E's $-{\mathcal{A}}_1[{\mathcal{L}}_{\xi }\gamma ]$ was the same identity with the quadratic term absorbed into its background transformation.
