The response branches and the overlap

This is the meaningful overlap: a branch common to the constructions has unchanged normalization. The entire binary response has degree four, whereas ${\mathcal{C}}_{3,\mathrm{D}}$ has degree three. Requiring equality of those objects would confuse operations and contradict their typing.
