Remark: Scope of this failure
The elementary product phase is not a common symbol calculus › The common zero set of the cone equations · lines 1022–1031
The theorem excludes this elementary phase shortcut. It does not prove that every multiphase, resolved, boundary-value, or other characteristic construction fails.
In particular, an amplitude cancellation could change the relevant representation. Establishing that cancellation still requires the complete amplitude calculation and its remainder estimates; it cannot be inferred from the geometric rank defect.
