On the first placement, define

q_{+} = (b - a)^{2}, q_{in, +} = (a - z)^{2} .

When both separations are nonzero and future null, their defining differentials are independent: the $b$ and $z$ endpoint components isolate the two coefficients in a proposed relation.

The regular kernel relation is

Λ_{5, +} = N^{*} {q_{+} = q_{in, +} = 0} ∖ 0

on that separated chronological sector.

For the second placement use

q_{-} = (b - z)^{2}, q_{in, -} = (z - a)^{2},

and

Λ_{5, -} = N^{*} {q_{-} = q_{in, -} = 0} ∖ 0.
