Equation (eq:switch-defect) has the form of the supplied VI switch identity CheungVI (:switch-defect, :plateau-obstruction), also copied in X-A's prerequisite sheet CheungXA. If is supported strictly where and , the displayed defect vanishes. For larger supports the expression need not vanish. A correction beginning at second order cannot change its fixed first coefficient.

The first cancellation, larger-support defect, and plateau second-order intertwiner reported for VII-A belong to its own equations and transformations CheungVIIA,CheungXA. We record the analogy; we do not transfer its intertwiner or its nonvanishing witnesses to the comparison theorem.
