The compact support in this lemma is a hypothesis inherited from the class, not a consequence of writing a polynomial in smooth weights. A polynomial can have noncompact support. The patch therefore does not insert a new cutoff to manufacture membership. Similarly, preservation of an observable-subgraph normalization is a retained admissibility requirement, not a consequence of differentiation alone.
