Let , , , , , , be as in XV-B's linear interface XVB. Assume:

  1. a preliminary lift with exists;

  2. the permitted candidate family is for a vector space with for all ;

  3. the lift of the collision closure to satisfies , with closed.

Then for every :

  1. , and a member of descends only if ; in particular , and has every property shared by all members of ;

  2. if there is an open with , no member of descends;

  3. if a functional on satisfies for all and , no member descends.

For the descent equation is

Proof. (i) , so . If annihilates then with , so by (H2). (ii) is XV-B's Theorem thm:contact with , legitimate by (H3) and Proposition prop:classstatus(i). (iii): for all , , so and XV-B's Proposition prop:descent excludes descent. The display is linearity.
