At fixed preparation, a prediction may be written $P (g (μ), μ)$ . A scale-independence statement concerns the total transport, for example

(μ \partial_{μ} + i \sum β_{i} (g) \partial_{g_{i}}) P = 0,

with operator mixing and state transport when required. Its explicit derivative at fixed $g$ is not that total derivative BDF.
