Back to manuscript

At refinement , a finite realization consists of:

  1. a finite set containing a source and the declared destination;

  2. one register at each ;

  3. a prescribed finite sequence of partitions of ;

  4. for each tick , a channel

    on , where

  5. blocks of cardinality at most two, with , and completely positive trace-preserving maps on the fixed block registers.

Each tick is exactly one such partition layer and takes time . The partitions and channels are fixed before the payload is supplied and do not depend on its state.
