X-L-ST@1#prop:ghostsupport
A smooth homogeneous Minkowski wave with compact spacetime support is zero. Consequently, restricting ghosts to compact spacetime support does not preserve the full unrestricted free ghost solution space.
Proof. A compactly supported wave has zero Cauchy data on a sufficiently early time slice. Cauchy uniqueness makes it identically zero.
