Remark: Compact test, not a compact spacetime wave
An explicit obstruction to unchanged free-shell descent · lines 1075–1081
The detecting smearing is compact. The free solutions used in the proof are unrestricted smooth solutions and need not have compact spacetime support. No claim about XVI-N's separately specified Route B is made.
