Remark: What this theorem does and does not identify

The witness is an off-shell compact perturbation of the cosmological background. It proves that the two prescriptions are different, not that every configuration distinguishes them. The proof uses only their first spatial jets, so it applies to any smooth completion of the modified prescription having (eq:modified-clock). It does not reconstruct or verify every higher-order formula in the external reference.
